if you are talking about amsoil anything, most people will tell you it is a waste of money.
then you have the people that sell spamsoil and will tell you it is the best thing since buttered bread.
i had a dealer tell me 25 years ago if i did not run their snake oil in my brand new truck, the engine would self destruct within 50,000 miles.
it now has 495,000 miles on it and still purrs like new. and the only oil i ever put in it is good old regular valvoline all fleet plus motor oil.
i feel synthetic is a waste of money.
If you use your truck a lot, I have to say the bypass is a great addition. I have talked to several mechanics and one that works at International and they all think keeping the soot out is a huge deal to longevity of these engines. They also say running a fuel additive is important. I am currently looking to add a bypass to mine. I did some oil research and found some interesting info at the link added below. Worth the read if nothing else. Sure looks like the Cummins/Valvoline oil is pretty good for a non-synthetic, per the blind testing. http://www.turbodieselregister.com/TDR57_Oil.pdf
I asked that same question some time ago and was told
for the 6.0L it's more or less a loss of $$ do to the fact that
the injectors in the 6.0L shear the oil down in short time.
So you end up with clean but very thin oil. In the non-HEUI
engine it may help http://dieselclass.com/Fuels%20Files/HEUI%201-08.pdf Hydraulically Actuated Electronic Unit Injector (HEUI) Systems
