Question Redline oil versus

What do you guys think about Redline oil ? For 8 dollars a quart it should go 40k miles on a oil change right ?

Example 1.00 mineral oil will go 5k or even more in our Fords .

The economics should propose the Redline to go 5k miles for every dollar it costs or is my math and thinking wrong ? Please correct me if it is because my intentions are not to slam the oil just seeing if the economics are justified .

Also , does anyone here think our newer Ford engines will last longer using Redline oil in normal driving ?

I think it is killer stuff, but overkill in a daily driver. If you run a $2.50 a bottle oil 5000 miles, then Redline should run a bit over 15,000. But even for 10,000 miles I think the other benefits are worth it. Just don't know if I can do 10,000 mile drains in my old vehicles.

Wish they would make a blend oil for us average folks and/or an ester-rich additive.

There are those in the industry that consider Redline 10w-30 the near perfect oil. I am not convinced. I have yet to see a UOA that supports its superior ratings. It is a good oil, no doubt, but not worth the investment for the average user. Now in a full race engine, the amounts of moly included in the additive package would certainly make it the oil of choice.

I use Redline products only in manual transmissions and drive axles, where the price is comparable to others.

Even in a race engine, synthetic is not necessarily better. My partner at work owns a small AMA motorcyle race team. They run 600 and 1000 cc Hondas. Ordinary straight 40 Castrol has produced less measurable wear and fewer deposits on teardown than the Royal Purple they ran before. The wet clutches also work better. Power on the dyno is the same or better. The fact that they are using leaded race gasoline and that synthetics do not scavenge lead very well may be part of the answer.
