As if we needed another vehicle, my wife purchased her graduation present on Friday. She graduated near the top of her class, in one of the top rated Law Schools, so I told her to get what she wanted. Now, she is pretty stingy when it comes to spending money. So, she didn't splurge for the BMW or Mercedes like many lawyers. She fell in love with a Nissan XTerra. And true to her school, I convinced her to get Burnt Orange (new color for 2003).
I think she did real good on the deal and it rides nice. It also has a 5000lb towing capacity.
So, now there are 6 vehicles in my possesion. That's bad, considering it's only me, the wife and the dog (but his license was revoked :-)
In any case, it's the first import that I have ever possesed. Although, she purchsed without my help on the loan. (Her salary will be about 50% better than mine in September, and I'm on decent money).
My first ever BRAND NEW truck was/is a Nissan v6 1986 1/2 Hard body. Twice to Germany, 300,000+miles, taught two teenagers to drive and currently is a daily driver for my son to go to UT Austin (120m round trip).
Love my Ford truck, but the Nissan is also a very capable/reliable workhorse.
Folks who are strictly "Buy American"!!! Are terribly misinformed or naive.
Funny that you mentioned UT. I guess you may have determined that is where she graduated from. I mean, it is without a doubt Burnt Orange. Several folks thought she got a custom paint job.
People going down the highway give her the "Hook Em' " sign, and she has no stickers or signage to indicate that she is a Longhorm..well, not yet. It's just the right color. Although, it did frustrate her Aggie parents :-) But hey, the Aggies don't have a Law School.
