Well, RC came through again and surprised me with an extra set of paws on the task today. Without him, I'd STILL be dinking around with the roof skin. ...and he brought me a coffee maker for the shop!!!!!!
Here's where we're at today. I got the complete roof skin on and finished up the bottom of the quarter panel. It's really looking like a truck, now.
This was extra fun. While trying to lay the first rib in the roof, we broke the bead roller, so we had to do some welding and bracing before we could go any further.
I got the cowl formed and welded up, but I had to cheat a little. ....ok a lot! After I got a vague shape, I welded the middle down, the heated, hammered and formed the ends until I had something I could use. I dollied the wrinkles out as best I could, but it's still gonna take a skim coat of mud. all in all, not too shabby.
I'll get a picture or two after I get the welds smoothed out a little.
Here's the progress shots of the driver's side. It's actually getting closer. I got the passenger side a good part of the way done too, but I had to cut it short today to come home and meet Cora's new boyfriend.
RC. It looks better in the picture. It still has a bunch of residue on it from the graphics and I only used 409 on it to clean the graphics off. It's still plenty dirty. I decided to throw some paint at it because I'm not happy with it. I just got two more paint jobs on top of Earthquake too, so I'm gonna be busy for a while.
