Ok I have a early 99 f350 7.3 and I am fixing to upgrade my exhaust system. I'm going with international bellowed up pipes, EBPV delete pedestal, garret high flow outlet and a magna flow XT 4" turbo back
with muffler system. My question is should I get the up pipes ceramic coated and how would it be useful.
Thanks for your help and any other suggestions would be appreciated.
From what I understand, the ceramic coating helps retain heat, which keeps the engine compartment a little cooler, not to mention a protection from rust.
I am wrapping my up-pipes when they get here, and then I am painting over them with the 1500* paint. I found ceramic paint, but I've read too many reviews stating it is tough to cure correctly and make it last unless you have the big ovens to do the curing in. No way I am getting away with using the oven in the kitchen, so I went with the exhaust wraps and will overspray those with DEI high heat silicone coating.
The ceramic coating also helps with exhaust scavenging (increases the rate of exhaust flow escaping through the pipes), helping reduce egt's. I'm not sure if this also contributes to more power though. Someone here who knows if that's true or not will probably chime in here soon.
