Replacement Truck
I gotta have a truck by Monday. Plus I have to drive from Fairbanks, AK to the Seattle area right away pulling 10K.
One of the trucks I am looking at is a 06 F350 long bed with an 6.0L engine automatic. It has all the bells and whistles.
It is bone stock with 94K on it.
The price is $12500
The 6.0 engine worries me on this. I have a SGII and can monitor the temps etc.
My shop with all my tools is in Washington.
Lets assume that the delta on this engine is ok right now.
Do you think it will make it to Washington (2200 miles) pulling 10K without stranding me?
Thanks for your opinion

Is it a regular cab? just wondering because the price seems a bit low. I would take it on a really good test drive and get it up to operating temp to check your delta's, you could check the IPR% with your scan gauge and that could give you an idea of the HPO system health. I know that there are known values for the IPR% at certain RPM's so that could be a good indicator. Im not sure of the values but I know I have seen them posted on here.

Truck
It is Crew Cab
Was listed at 15500 but owner dropped price cause he needs quick sale.
Has not been on CL long.
I know I will have to do upgrades in future to prevent problems. I just want to get home right now.

6.0 Differances
I know I saw a post on here that list the probable problems with the different years 6.0 engines. Now I can't find it.
Wha t problems are unique to the 2006 truck with the 6.0 engines?

HPO system leaks from the standpipes, dummy plugs and STC fitting. That's why looking at the IPR% can give a good indication of HPO system health.

Programming is easy... Youtube it. Some good videos out there. And FWIW, you don't have to plug it to a 6.0 to program the 6.0 xgauges... you can plug it into any OBDII port for power.

Thanks for the tip.
That is what I thought. I have it plugged into a company work truck right now (Chevy) and will program it that way.

Wow, its a shame you can't pick that truck up. That's a really good price.

Truck
Got a whole list to look at this weekend.
How about an 2006 with 107K on it. A cc F250 XLT that has a reconstructed title for $12500
The owner claims it was never wrecked but the title became a reconstruct because it was stolden and the insurance company cashed it out.
I am a bit skeptical but the pictures are nice. Even has a sun roof.
6.0L Fords go pretty cheap right now because they have a bad rep.

Now a 2004 CC F350 Lariate with 184K. Also has studs, new heads and EGR deleate. Trans has upgraded tq converter and shift kit.
Price is listed at $16500
High mileage but I like the modifications.
Been for sale a long time. Retired couple doesn't care if it sells or not but they keep renewing the CL.
Will look at it Sunday
