OBDII Code P0150

My 2010 F-150 Check engine light lit up today. I scanned it to find a P0150 Code. O2 Sensor. Bank 2. Sensor 1. Am I correct it is on the drivers side between the engine and the cat? I haven't looked for it yet. How hard is this to change? What should the cost be to buy one and replace it myself?

Emissions stuff is warranted for 10 years, isn't it?

Why are you so certain the sensor is at fault? That is a circuit code. Could be a problem with the PCM or the many feet of wiring between the two.

Also, is P0150 the only code? There is a TSB for updated PCM software for vehicles that trip a P0130 at the same time.

There is no 10 year warranty on emissions parts. A few parts are covered for 8/80, the rest are just 3/36 unless you live in California, then some are covered for 7/70.

I looked it up...Actually, the bulk are covered for 8/80. It used to be 10/100. Not many people keep a car for 10 years, let alone stock if they do, so that's probably why they dropped the time coverage. I know I had a Sport-Trac burn an 02 sensor 5 years into ownership, and it was covered under warranty. No extended plan, no voodoo, just the stock emissions warranty.

http://www.ford.com/commercial-truck...ions-warranty/ <--Don't be fooled by the title, it covers cars too

Besides defective O2 sensor and/or wiring ... Other possible causes:
  • Exhaust System Leak
  • Intake Air System leak (including vacuum leaks)
  • Low Fuel Pressure
  • Defective Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
  • Defective sensor wiring and/or circuit problem
  • PCM software needs to be updated
  • Defective PCM
As noted ... DTC's DO NOT pin-point the source of the problem, only the possible systems that are related to it. Each has their own set of diagnostics to aid in pin-pointing the root-cause.

I have been getting the check engine light which comes on and goes out (after 3 driving cycles) for about a year now. Bought code reader today, read codes. P0103, p0150 Bank1, Sensor 1 and Bank 2, Sensor 1. Is there a TSB on reprogramming? I really do not think the O2 sensors are bad as the light has been on and off very intermittant. Still not sure if it is the brand of fuel. One certain brand seemed to bring it on. I'm sure someone is going to say after the miles I have on this truck they need replaced. Light never stays on past 3 driving cycles and may not come back for a month. Checked all connectors. Thanks.

Yes, At 200,00 miles had the Ford garage change plugs, clean injectors,(Tune up) they suggested a replacement of the battery. During this tuneup they also updated the software. Never had the problem since. It was either an update to the software or a sticking injector.

Check Engine light came on this weekend and ran it over to my local shop this morning. He said the codes were the P0130 and the P0150, identified the TSB for this exact problem and reflashed the PCM and the TCM. Cost me $85 bucks and I'm back on the road.

I have those same codes. Looked thru the list of TSBs on this site and couldn't find the one you mentioned. Do you recall the number? Thanks

Had almost the exact same issue myself, with nearly the same model f150 that you got. Check engine light came on and off for me every once in a while, except only after cruising on highway at about 80+. I also had a really laggy throttle response. When I'd accelerate hard sometimes it wouldnt respond for a sec and when it did it made the tranny slip. Just got back with it from the Ford dealer and all they found on the computer was the same P0150 code, 02 CIRCUIT (not sensor, be mindful of this). They just reset the PCM and right away driving from their shop I noticed the difference in the throttle. Still need to test on highway but looks like this might have the simple fix.

Also something to note; earlier I tested the check engine light and got 3 codes, the P0150 and two others for a TPS and Mass Air Flow sensor. Ford dealer said they only got the P0150, but perhaps the others were caused by this code or the PCM.
