So this is something I never would have expected to have happen, I was driving yesterday about 45 miles into my run I heard a very loud pop and experienced an incredible vibration until I finally stopped. After a quick look it was evident the transfer **** itself. It has a decent crack along the bottom and dumped all of it's fluid out the bottom, my question is this. Would having the left front hub locked cause this scenario, because mine was locked.
Either way, does anyone know how hard it would be to convert a zf5 transfer case to work on my zf6? Or am I going to have to settle for spending $1700 for a reman. I'm drawing blanks when calling the salvage yards, apparently a zf6 with a transfer case isn't that common.
