About to pull the trigger on a new to me XLT 4x4 3.7 V-6.
Anyone have some real world MPG numbers? I'm going to test drive this afternoon.
By the description and photos it has a "M" mode on the gear shift selector. Does that mean it has paddle shifters? Also noticed that it has a lever for the four wheel drive? Not the typical shift **** switch. Can one still shift to four wheel drive on the fly?

The M is for manual mode which allows you to shift manually if you choose. It seems to be handy if you're descending a hill or carrying a load and you wish to hold a gear.
The transfer case shift level simply means the truck has a manual transfer case. No electric motor to do the shifting for you. Yes, you still have shift on the fly capabilities when shifting into 4 hi. You'll have to reads your owners guide to see which speeds not to go above in order to shift without breaking something.
The 3.7L seems to be a great engine. Everything that I've read and heard would suggest that is it extremely fuel efficient when compared to a V-8.
Thanks for the reply. I do a lot of driving for work (40,000 yearly) Stopped at the dealer yesterday but didn't have time to drive it. I'm currently driving an 2003 Ranger with 300,000 miles it is time to retire it. I'm sure the new truck will be much more comfortable with my 6'4" frame.
Anyone have some mpg numbers?
I'm 19.9 MPG since new. Many thousands of miles of I. 26,000 miles on it now. The 3.7L gets real stingy with gas once it has warmed up. About 10 miles. Sometimes I wonder what it is runnin on. It really loves E85 on those 100 degree + days, but this EB video is impressive, its hard not to appreciate it once U watch it grunt, it can scratch an claw.

Well I picked it up last night. What a difference from driving a 2003 Ranger and my wife's 2009 f150. The ride home managed 17.4 mpg. I'm sure that will improve as I get used to the truck. It has 18,000 miles on it but still has the new car smell. Does anyone know how to get the original sticker on line? I know when we purchased the 2009 2 years ago someone posted me a link.

U may find the performance is very relaxed by not jamming the pedal to the floor and shifting down to 2nd. By depressing it half way it will shift to 3rd or 4th instead. Going to 2nd blows the hat off.

I purchased a 2011 F-150 XL, 4x4, Reg cab, 8ft bed last fall. Used but only 4113 on the clock, yeah still smelled new. 3.7 is great. This is the base motor in the Mustang and as such comes with 302 HP and 278 ft lb torq. It doesn't really have alot of grunt down low, won't hardly scratch the tires from a dead stop but once the tach hits 5000, it comes ALIVE! Pulls like a train and shifts at 6800. I noticed that there is no red line on the tach? Manual shift trans is kinda hard to use because the shift button in on the gear lever, paddles would have been neat but don't really see me doing a lot of manual shifting.
Fuel enconomy is pretty good, avg 13-14 around town and got 23.6 avg on a 300 mile jaunt to pick up a blast cabinet. I realy like the feel of the elect power steering but with a 139 in WB it sure doesn't turn very tight. The bed sits pretty high and lift over on the side is sorta hard. Fit and finsh is great, overall very satisfied so far.
I added cruise control and trailer brake control. Really neat deal on those. Just plug, program and play. Dealer has todo program but make sure they know what they are doing. I had quotes for 200.00 install on the devices plus a 100.00 to program, 350.00 for all and neither dealership acted like they had a clue. Found another sealer in a nearby town, Service Mgr knew all about the parts and what was involved, charged me 100.00 to intall both switches and program.
I do have a question, I would like to add the front bumper with the fog lights. The parts for bumper lights etc add up to about 800.00 new and used is non-existant. What I need to know, is the wiring harness in place for a plug and play on this or if it didn't come with fogs it's really hard to add because of the stuff that's missing?
The fuse panel in the cab doesn't have contacts in the slot noted for the fog lamps and I can't find the relay slot in the under hood power block. I haven't taken the headlights out to see what the harness looks like but I'm hoping most of it's there or at least the plugs.
Also, any thoughts on projector beam verses just adding HID? If I go projector, who's got the best? Same for HID, don't want to waste any money if I can avoid it.
Can anybody provide some info, really appreciate it, thaks.
