i have 2002 F 350 7.3 I have a problem with it seeming to intermitently shift the transfer case into gear, then right back out. Any Ideas? The book doesn's say much. Thanks in advance for your help
Welcome to FTE.
We are gonna need more info. Do you have a manual shift or do you have the ESOF.
Is it trying to shift itself or are you talking about when you shift it.
If it is ESOF, you need to be in neutral with your foot on the brake for it to shift into 4x4 low.
Sorry, It is electronic shift on the fly, and i am not trying to shift it, it is just doing it as i am driving down the road, at lease that is my diagnosis. It will not try to disengage if i am in 4x4 hi or low. Just when i am in 2 wheel it feels and sounds as if the trnsfer case is engaging, resulting in a thunking noise from the front end. I have disconnected and plugged the hub locking vaccum lines to eliminate that as a cause.
