I believe it is coming time for me to replace my starter. Every blue moon, I will hear a grind when I turn the key. When I turn the key again, truck fires up with no problem.

How hard is it to replace the starter on the 6.0?
Before you go that far, check your cables, especially the grounds.
Cable corrosion is a much bigger issue than a failed starter, "usually."
I pulled my starter and installed fumoto valves for block drains and had it running in less than an hour. Just use a long extension for the top inside bolt. Not a bad job at all.
There's just one PITA bolt on the top side that you can't see and you'll need a long extension. Otherwise it's easy. And yes, the solenoid screw is VERY delicate. Broke mine.
There is a top bolt that is impossible to see from below. It is a 13mm. I took off the front passenger wheel and wheel liner - then it is very easy. It is staring right at you. That may be the best way to get a proper look at the cables before you buy a starter that you may not need. Don't forget to disconnect the batteries before messing with it - it makes cool sparks!
