Replacing a starter

The starter in my '92 Bronco with a 351 just went out. I assume that it is the starter cause if you tap it with a hammer it will then turn over. I have very little personal mechanical experience. Is this a job that I can do myself to save an couple of dollars? Is it as simple as unbolting the origional one and bolting on the replacement? Do I need to replace the cylinoid also?

Any and all advice is appriciated.

Thanks.

Replacing a starter

Yo...just disconnect the negative (black) cable on the battery. It is an easy replacement. First, just in case, jump out the starter solenoid to make sure it is all right. The solenoid costs only $10 to $15., so if you have $, just change that too. Good luck, Al.

Replacing a starter

Very easy to replace. 3 bolts: Two holding it on, and one holding the power cable to the starter. Go for it.

Replacing a starter

I just replaced my starter and external solenoid and that does not seem to be the problem because the crank doesn't even want to turn over???
