Does anyone know how to remove the key switch from the column of my 2001 F-250 superduty? I need to inspect the wires to the overdrive light below the top column cover, but in order to get in there the lock cylinder needs to come out first. Thanks
In my 2002 f350 I needed to do the following:
1. Disconnect the neg. ground battery cable.
2. Put your key in the ignition and turn it to on, not start.
3. On the bottom side of the lock cylinder, there is a small hole. Take a philip screwdriver and push up in the hole at the same time pulling outward on the key. May have to wiggle the key up and down or sideways while pulling on it. Make sure you keep upward pressure on the screw driver until the lock starts to come out, than you can remove the screw driver.
4. You don't have to use the screw driver when installing the lock. It just slides in.
I forgot to add that you have to take the plastic cover off the bottom of the steering column so you can get at the hole to put the screw driver in. Sorry
