Key release

My 83 requires that I push a little button on the bottom side of the steering column in order to remove the ignition key. Any ideas on doing away with this nuisance?

You can't as its connected inside the column and to remove it completely would make the lock not be able to turn to the lock position for the key to be removed...or you can simply put up with it...or get another column that doesn't have this feature.
