my 95 b'co clunks several times when i start and shen i stop, the clunking varies with the temperture, IE it will clunk alot more in warm weather vs. cold. It also will very depending on the amount of acceleration, if you let it idle up to 10mph it wont do it at all, and if you floor it it will make one really big clunk and go, but if you accelerate normaly it will make several clunks. It doesnt effect any speeds above like 10mph and it doesnt hesitate when shifting, and has never had any trouble going through the gears. I asked a mechanic and he said it was the rear end, but it seems weird that it would clunk when coming to a stop also, the only thing i could think of was that it was the torque converter having trouble engaging and disengaging. if you have any clue as to whe the hell is going on please let me know. Thanks
Check your U-joints for play; grab the driveshaft and try to rotate it by hand either way. You shouldn't really see any play at the joints. Inspect your motor and transmission mounts; you don't want to see large cracks or tears in them.
I checked the engine mounts they looked almost new, and the u-joints had a small amount of play, but not enough to cause the multiple clunks that a happening, is there any thing else it could be?
I can almost assure you its the driveshaft slip-joints. Get a grease gun needle from the auto parts store and inject some grease in there. Drive it and it should dissappear.
OK, im glad to know its not a major problem. Just for clarification the sli[ joint is the section of the drive shaft that teleiscopes in and out to compinsate for differant axle elivations, correct? and all i do is buy a grease gun and small tip and shoot some in to it? It would be like me to do something really stupid and grease some random part. Thanks for all the info

My 96 Bronc was doing the exact same thing, I took the advise from users on this website about greasing the slip joints. Let me tell ya.... It worked, no more clunk! But you need to remove the drive line and grease them that way. A needle to insert grease just isnt enough, cant grease good enough... Good Luck !
