I just bought a 64 f250 2wd with a 223 I6. I was wanting to match the red paint that was on the door and fender trim. The paint is faded and I was hoping to paint it myself. What is the color and where is the best place to get it?
There's no way to determine what color red was used on 1963/64 mouldings. You'll have to take a moulding to an automotive paint supply store and have the formula determined.
Rangoon Red exterior/interior paint was used 1961/66, but it's too dark to be the same color red as used on these mouldings.
Ok, I will try that. On a side note, I'm also looking for the bed trim for a long bed but can't seem to find a place that carries them for the long bed. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Welcome to FTE!! It has been many years since I 'salvage shopped' and even then Ford Pickup parts in decent condtion where getting hard to come by. I was usually successful thru Ebay, I got on their daily email list for listing for 61-66 Ford parts. Suggest check in FTE Classified. Not familiar with the 62 trim, wonder if they are stainless steel as are some of the later models, if so, may want to consider removing paint and buffing and save a few bucks.
There a number of Arizonians, I am a Wannabe, in this forum who may be able to help with parts so I suggest going to the 'Southwest chapter and introduce yourself and, if appropriate, see if they can suggest a resource for a particular part. Also, in 2-3 months your area will be getting into the seasonal Auto Swap Meets where I have been very successful acquiring parts.

Good idea. I was considering just filling in the holes but I would really like to have the trim. Where are those swap meets at? I'm in Yuma but I don't know of any down this way. Thanks!
You reside in a 'swap meet heaven' state, I tend to take in the "Good Guys Rod and Custom show' which is usually a 3 day event circuit thoughout South Western states, on their website list the dates and location of coming events. Sometimes able to determine how crowded the event is going to be by the number of spaces, and booths are available to rent, the first event can be lean, and frustrating traveling long distance only to find a few part suppliers, swap meet area, or distributerso. The custom section offers lots of food for thought and good to rub elbows with fellow enthusiast. Also like the auto sales area, but most important to me is the 'swap meet' area where persons rent spaces and bring all their extra parts, tools, and everything imaginable to sell and/or barter. Assume simular events that should be listed in local papers, or check with local FTE chapter?
Suggest first confirm the trim is 'stainless', if anodized aluminum and in good condition then best leave well enough alone. On the otherhand, poor condition usually means stripping the anodize and either reanodize, at a rediculous expense, or strip the anodize, polish and power coat clear which is also expensive. A poor mans solution would be to strip the anodize, polish, and apply a coat of clear which can be very labor intensive. Perhaps other members have additional advise, or pehaps end up repainting, talk about going full circle, is not this were the thread started.
Suggest first confirm the trim is stainless. It is not!

What Ford truck had stainless steel side mouldings? None that I'm aware of.
1963/64 upper side mouldings are anodized aluminum, as are 1965/66's, 1967/72's (upper and lower), 1973/79's (upper & lower), 1980/86, 1987/91, 1992/96. Most 1997/2013's do not have side mouldings.
The only exterior mouldings that are stainless steel are the various types of windshield reveal mouldings used on 1957 thru 1976 Custom Cab/Sport Custom/Ranger/Ranger XLT.
No one reproduces 1963/64 mouldings, but Robert (gangstakr) has a pair of NOS 1963 bedside mouldings.

The NOS bedside mouldings I have are for the 63 unibody longbed. I only have one set left.
