2000 Excursion HD Towing Info...

It appears to have grown up on the East Coast which often equals underbody rust. I bought a 2000 Ex that grew up there in May with 77k and paid 6,200 for the truck. Engine, body and interior were perfect but the underbody was horrible. Mine was a limited but with 3.73 axles. So get under it and check for rust and also check the manifolds for broken bolts. Neither of those would stop me buying with those miles and features, but I sure would use them when dealing on the price. Here are some pictures of mine.

I got an incredible deal on it and picked the right day and right time. I actually went during my lunch to initially look at it and it was getting service done to it, had an injector and coil that needed to be replaced and then apparently the computer reset. Was told it wouldn't be done until Monday because they were waiting for a part.
I went back to my office and I get a call almost immediatally that they actually got it done.
The dealership is about 85 miles from my house and 25 from my office... So I leave work and go check it out... It's not perfect, it is 12-13 years old, but it's pretty nice. The underneath and engine all look clean, fresh inspection, tires look brand new. Only issue is the cruise control doesn't work, the switch works on the steering wheel, but it doesn't engage and actually hold a speed and I found a small rust spot by the drivers side rear window, maybe 2". Good think a good buddy of mine is a body guy and mechanic, really good at both and owned a 99 F250 until recently. Called him about both issues and he said to pull the trigger, especially with the milage and condition. So here is where it gets awesome... For 1, I traded a 2011 Taurus in so since my trade was a higher value, I didn't have to pay sales tax. The other thing was that because of the age of the vehicle I could only finance it for 3 years and I was going to walk away because initially for what my payment would have been I could have bought a newer Expediton EL (although not exactly what I wanted)... Anyway, a bunch of back and forth, and to make a long story short, they got me out the door for $9853. Very happy!!!
Apparently I was the only retail customer for the day...
On top of that it does appear to have a tranny and/or oil cooler, need to investigate more in the light, but also has a 6 disc CD changer. Runs and drives great and once I actually reset the computer and mpg, the last 30-40 miles home I got 14.7 mpg driving about 65, but was a bit all over because of not having the cruise work, normally going faster then slower though, pretty much on that same trip my Explorer only got 18 mpg, so I'm thrilled...
Next thing I need to do is arrange the garage so I can actually get this mamoth in!!!

Anyway, thanks for all the help and advice... I'll try to get some pictures up here...
