51 hood hinges
Hello All
I am just beginning a restoration ( I uses that term loosely) of a 1951 Ford F1 that was parked since 1966. What parts that I will need do not seem to be a huge problem, except possibly the hood hinges. I've read that the side hinges really don't do that much, that the inner, spring hinge does the work to pull the hood down. The ones on the cowl ends are very loose, and the holes for the shoulder bolts are 'egg shaped', and the pins very sloppy on the 4 levers. So, #1 does anyone have some input on what may or may not be important on this hinge. #2, are these available anywhere new, (as I have not found them yet). If available repro, are they any good? Also, I know now, but never realized that the 48-50 and 51-52 beds are different. Any chance, that a 49 tailgate will fit?

Thanks,
Ropot
The only difference between 48-50 and a 51-52 tailgates is the position of the tailgate chain brackets. 48-50 brackets were positioned in the top roll of the tailgate, while in 51-52 they were moved to below the roll. Of course, the difference is also in the bedsides on accommodate for the different position of these brackets.
