yesterday i got to work, opened drivers door and simultaneously hit the unlock button. in my haste i hit the lock side of it. my keys, locked inside the cab. so what do i do at lunch? try to get my truck unlocked. i figured if a thief can do it to steal my batteries, why can't i? about five minutes into it with two scrapers, a pickle grabber, and a screwdriver, my window bursted and i mean EXPLODED into a million pieces. safety glass all over the place. the good news is i got my truck unlocked. now i have to get a new window. i had debated about catching a ride from a coworker to the bart station, bart home, get my one spare key, bart back to sfo and then saved myself the headache, inconvenience, and green backs.
so, unless someone out here knows a great window replacement shop, i'm taking my truck into the dealer. it needs a handful of work on other issues too.
gotta work overnight duty tonight, so you guys enjoy your friday and relax at quitting time.

Bdpotts, I know this is a little late, but I keep my spare key in my wallet. Mainly because I have lost count how many times I have locked my keys in the truck.

good morning fellas. jim, thanks for the idea. its never too late for advice or tips that will save someone hundreds of dollars.
cool and crisp here in oakland but the sun is shining. my significant other has taken a job down in LA so i'm bachelor-padding it up around here. had i not destroyed my window i would have come out to livermore to try to cross paths with you hank. probably won't be next weekend either as i have to leave for mobile, AL for a few days worth of training. SO
one of these days, i'll let you know when i'm in the neighborhood. i've been thinking off and on about getting a beater. something simple, parts are easy to get, and dependable. thinking along the lines of ranger, toyota, or subaru. any one have daily beaters that get you from A to B?
