I love Mcmaster-carr when I was in I used to order from them a lot. Have you heard of MSC they carry a tone of stuff as well. Have you got the milling machine on site?
The plaining mill is still at the farm 6 miles away. I'm not gonna have it delivered till the new 10'X10' sliding door installed. No way to get it inside the shop it's so big.
Need to install the new roof before I can install the door. Always something...........lol
Never used South shore ramp, always seems the wind is bringing in 2ft white-caps down there.
Guess it's snowing there now.
In general, I do not use the S. Shore ramp for the reasons you give. Just stopped there when we got to the Lake to get an over all view of things, take a couple of pics and let the dog run.
I have used it, mostly during the early Cascade opener. T View is always closed and inaccessible at that time. The ramps just south of the lodge are have rigs backed up for over a mile down 138 waiting to launch. Go down to S. Shore and there are 6 to 10 rigs, and we are in the water in just a few minutes. Been a while since I've been up there for the early opener so I suppose that secret is out now. They have done a tremendous amount of improvement to South Shore over the years, including the fish cleaning station.
Wish I'd had a camera about ten years ago. We had my ski boat down at Umatilla and the waves were coming in sideways at the ramp. A guy with another ski boat was very frustrated trying to get his boat on the trailer. He finally went back about 50' and gunned the engine. The boat went straight up the trailer, over his tailgate and stuck the bow right through his back window in the cab!
I swear, I don't think I've ever laughed that hard...........lol
Several times long ago when we were still on the N. Umpqua in Winchester. Was going to take a day and go over there this trip, but for a host of reasons, we never made it. (Went grouse hunting instead.) Several people told us the fishing was "hot" over there. Of course we've heard that before.......................... Miller is like 140' deep so that could make a big difference during the first couple of weeks in Sept.
It's the 21 miles of wash-board, dusty gravel road that puts me off.
Seen rigs coming out of there, the boats being trailered were COVERED in grey dust.

Several years ago, saw a young lady cranking so hard on the winch handle to pull the ski-boat her boyfriend had driven part way on to the trailer, that her bikini top came off............that's the BEST thing I ever saw at a boat ramp!

That is the ever loving truth. If you go in off of 138 near Pacific Crest Trail - and I'm not sure that road is open any more..............double filter dust mask required. If you go in off of 97 near the Ranger Station, double to triple layer dust mask required. Either way...........8 hours of clean up! It surprises me that Miller Lake hasn't lost 15' of depth from all of the dust and dirt drug in by the boats and trailers.

Good afternoon Oregon. Just a fly by..............on the way to the farm to get some things done then have to go to #1 son's place in Yamhill for Pizza! That will be about 55 miles of driving I don't really want to do today, but the Pizza should be good.
Besides I am dying to find out just exactly how banged up he is and if his pride and joy is a total loss. He just put a new - rebuilt transmission in it a couple of months ago.
I spent all day yesterday getting my daughter moved down to Corvallis and into her dorm at OSU. Packed a lot of stuff up 5 flights of stairs. I got a lot of compliments for my design and custom paint of her wood frame that integrates with the bed in the room and raises it up off the floor allowing extra space underneath for storage and whatever else you would want to use it for.
We left the house around 6:00 am and didn't get home until after 9:00 pm. I did take a break while the ladies were doing their interior decorating. Ran down to Eugene and B and R Auto Wrecking and got a heavy duty Ford rear sway bar assembly for my truck. It was only $40 for about $300 worth of factory parts. . I think I'll clean it up and remove any rust (it doesn't look like there was very much if any), touch up the paint and get new bushings and it should be good to go for as long as I own my truck. I'm really hoping that the sway bar helps with the camper.
