Morning Jim. Time to mow here again also, and I get to do 7 homes and some of the radar base...........
Time for me to get my butt to the shop. I've got a backhoe hydraulic leak to find and fix before I can get back to work........sigh....
Have a good day Don.
I need to crawl under the pickup and find out where I am losing some tranny fluid. Suspecting it has something to do with the external transmission cooler, either the cooler its self or one of the lines leading to / from it. Kind of hoping it is going to be the cooler. Been wanting to have an excuse to put a bigger one on anyway.
We'll see. If it is the cooler up front, I'll just have to decide what I want to replace it with. I've heard the 6.0 external cooler is a better choice than just replacing with a stock 7.3 cooler. I've got a friend in town that owns one of the most recommended transmission shops in the area. I'll have to hit him up and see what he thinks. He drives a PSD just like mine except for the color. (He'll help me out or I'll put a big hole in the boat he goes halibut fishing in! )
Couldn't tell you on the differences between the two. Nice to have someone you can trust to hook you up, though.
I've seen several posts here on FTE and had other people tell me that the 6.0 external cooler is a bit bigger and provides better results so I thought it might be worth a look. I'd like to get the most cooling I can get since some of the mountains and passes here can put a pretty heavy load on her when we are pulling 5000 lbs of boat. I should probably break down and put a tranny temp gauge in as well.
My wife keeps talking camper too. I've avoided that one for now, but I'm not sure how long I'll be able too!
Well today was replace freeze plugs on the 223 6 cyl. Drained the radiator and then the engine, not. The engine drain was clogged, had to pound the first plug in to get the engine drained. the other two holes were filed with something different. when i pulled the center one out out turned out to be a block heater. The one in behind it had the same thing. the only thing i can figure is they were located in a bad place and it was easier the knock the plug in and replace with a heater, as it didn't require hammering to install, just a 1/2" wrench.
