Tire chains

I've been kicking around getting some tire chains for my plow truck, possibly the ones with the ice V on the links. Does anyone know of any AMERICAN made chains? I was just about to purchase from tirechains.com since they are only a few hours from me but I see their chains are made in China. I've found Pewag chains on a couple of other trucking sights I've purchased straps, etc from. A Australian company with factorys in the US but they don't say where the chain comes from.
Thanks!

Good luck at that. American manufacturing is gone. The company I work for makes very high-end stainless cable handrails, all the material comes from China. The last place I worked for made automated welding systems, slapped made in USA stickers all over them, including the Chinese built main structure. About all they actually did was system integration and assembly there.

Good luck finding US or NAFTA made. Im surprised you have gotten along without chains for a plow truck. The streets here are nearly solid ice right now. Chains or 4x4 are required by law (CA R2) and even 4x4 with snow tires must carry chains. A 4x4 and no chains you cant make it up my street to the highway without getting a good run at it.

It's sad that we can't even find US made chains! I was just hoping for a miracle..hahaha

My 450 goes pretty well in 4wd, some of the dirt drive plowing is getting slick from the snow packing into ice. I imagine antiskid or a spreader in the dump bed would help but where I plow we don't worry about antiskid until it's too slick to safely go. Usually I can get away with out them but I know the day is coming when my luck will run out.

I'm assuming chains are legal in Pa? Here in Mi., they're legal, but, you cannot allow the chain to contact any part of the road surface. LOL, you figure it out!!LOL

Hmmm..... Maybe if the snow stays between the chain and road surface??

AFAIK it's legal between Nov 1st and April 15th. I've seen others running them when it's real bad out and never thought otherwise. In my case I'd only be using them when I'm plowing the lot or on personal property. If the main roads are too bad for 4wd then no one needs to be were I plow

Strange set of laws, state-to-state. We are required to carry chains in our vehicles on these mountain roads all year long. Is snows here quite often after April 15th, even up to Memorial day, and sometimes in October.

The other thing is that the CHP/CALTRANS forces people to chain up when there is no snow on the main highway (2-lane). How would that square in MI?

Likely would confuse, at least me, even more.

Hmm, I wonder if our lawmakers in Lansing mistakenly spilled the beans on that UFO levitation device they are rumoured to have in one of the salt mines below Detroit?
