Digging around in the engine ay of my 76 today I found some disconnected harnesses and a grounding strap.
Can anyone identify them for me?
The ground strap attaches to the underside of the hood. It is there to dissipate static electricity and to also ground the hood to act as a ground plane for antenna reception. There should be a corresponding hole drilled into one of the hood's ribs that is missing a screw.
Identify 'em yourself! Some of that appears for be for ignition... but here, you can trace the wire colors and teach yourself about your truck.:
The connectors in your last picture appear to be for the ignition module. A three-terminal connector instead of a two-terminal connector for module power would point to a Duraspark I module instead of Duraspark II; I'm not sure which would be expected for a '76.
That 4-terminal connector in your last picture is for the ignition module, I can guarantee you that. Three of the four wires in that connector go to the distributor; the fourth goes to the negative terminal of the coil. They do not touch the heater in any way.
I cannot explain the colors for the 3-terminal connector. The 1976 factory diagram claims you should just have RED with a BLUE stripe wire (hot-in-START) and BLUE (hot-in-RUN). The only thing I can think of is it's actually a late-model 1975 harness, which would have 3 wires running to this connector. However, I don't have access to the 1975 factory diagram.
