build that 351m to a good old 400 with high compression adn a good cam!
That was the original plan. I was going to upgrade all the guts, bump it to a straight up double roller chain, and all the good stuff. But I got to thinking, the 460 generally has more power and the only thing (that I know of) that would need to really be changed is the motor mounts. The C-6 should be good. But I have a long way to go before I do something like this so who knows what will happen.

I'm not sure on the 1970s versions but, 1980-86, you'd also need to replace what are commonly known here as perches - Ford calls 'em Engine Stands.
They're basically brackets riveted and bolted to the frame onto which the motor mounts get installed.
You might also need to install a remote oil filter kit (cross member blocks access to the oil filter) but, again, not sure on the 70s versions.
Hollenjoe is exactly what i did. is't a 408 now with aussie head 9.5:1 zero deck piston xtreme energie cam, zero degree double timing chain, roller rocker. Performer 400 intake 600cfm carb custom push-rods because my block was deck and head shave just for clean up but my geometrie of the valve train force me to go with shorter push rods.center of the valve tip after a full rotation.

I don't know much about those issues but I do know that the later 80's models and even late 70's models had the powerband lowered for emissions. The other thing I like about our engines over the 460's is that there is no coolant going through the heads and intake to worry about. It seems easier the way we have dry heads/intake.
I'm still very much on the fence about what I plan to do with the motors, weather I rebuild mine or whatever. I'm in no big hurry so I can plan as much as I need to.
Yeah I spent... More than a month trying to research how to work on hubs and brakes. Then when I started on it I realized that most of what I researched really didn't matter. It was easier than I thought.
EDIT: Haha don't try to post and watch a movie at the same time... I had to go back and edit the tar out of this so it made sense.
