i have seen on this form and been told to only use a Cooper-Robertshaw thermostat. why is this brand the only one to use? is thier a problem with the NAPA autoparts thermostat? if so what is the difference?
I've never heard of that brand, I have never had a problem with Napa products. Napa thermostats are made by Stant, the one they call super stat is better in quality. although in my toy0t@ i had to use a factory unit, all other failed after a couple of weeks. Good Luck -RW
The ROBERTSHAW is the correct thermostat, I'm living proof...well maybe my truck is. I had an overheating problem, went to the "correct" t-stat and my overheating went away. Do a search on it, try the part # which I think is 333-192.
I think it has something to do with the shape of the sides doesn't it? I thought I saw a diagram regarding that once. I don't have my 400 build book with me otherwise I'd try to look it up. Although I have a Gates thermostat in my 400 and it has worked fine.
