So, I pulled the Wiring out of my 75 f-100 today to replace some pigtails, and just clean everything up.
I have 2 stray wires that don't go anywhere, one I don't care about right now, and the other, is a damn resistor wire.
So, under the broken resistor wire, is another 'loop' that also says its a resistor wire. 2 wires???? From all I have read there is only supposed to be one.
I needed a new ignition switch pigtail (someone just shoved the wires into the switch) and a steering column pigtail. So I headed over to the pick a part and got some.
Found a pigtail that had a resistor wire sharing the large ground, so I grabbed it, and guess-hooked it up to my mystery resistor wire
Discovered wire that didn't go anywhere:
(arrow is the resistor wire, question mark is the other wire, know what it does? Im guessing ciggy lighter)
And, here is where I hooked it up too:
(see the large black wire, sharing a terminal? thats where)
Is this correct?
Keep in mind, the truck ran with out this wire hooked up.
I can't really remember much on my 74s wiring since I did it years ago, but I just redid the wiring on my 79. The cigarette lighter wiring is green/yellow.
As far as the resister, it's purple, right? I believe it just runs in the harness for a while and eventually feeds the gauges. I have to check on that, but for now, here's a link to some really good factory wiring schematics: 1973-1979 Ford Truck Wiring Diagrams & Schematics - FORDification.net
Does your truck have a warning light rather than an ammeter? If you do then the black resistor wire is probably circuit 96. It runs from the warning light's connection at the PC plug on the back of the instrument cluster to the ignition switch where it is paired with the black wire w/ green trace.

Thanks for the reply, but I need the year that isn't listed

It does have warning lights!
So, I probably did it right?
Ill pull out the mulitmeter and see if it leads to the cluster.
