I know dieselsite.com used to sell a complete kit with external filter to do this mod, but I just looked on their website and can't seem to find it. So my question is do any of you guys know if any other site has this available?

Driven Diesel Fuel Tank / Pre-Pump Kit Is the one I put on two different trucks. Both worked great and are currently in use.

If you are on a budget you can go this route. Diesel Innovations. I installed this kit in Dec 2007 and have only had to change the pre-pump filter a couple of times.

You will have to supply your own line to move the return line away from the pickup. I used a piece of brake line from napa. Forget the size and length. I also used the 90° elbow from the removed mixing chamber to reroute the return line.
I always thought I would upgrade to a spin on water separator filter, but only if I did a fuel bowl delete. Well, I still have the stock fuel bowl and the DI kit is still there and problem free. I see no air passing through that see-through filter.

You will need the 3/8 and 5/16 fuel line disconnect tools to get the connections off the top of the fuel tank. 3/8 for supply line and 5/16 for the return line. You can get the plastic disconnect tools also which may be a bit cheaper. Here is the link to the metal ones from harbor freight. 4 Piece Fuel and Auto Trans Line Disconnect Tool Set
