Back in the day, when my '66 F250 4X4 was a few years younger, my grandpa, grandma, aunt and mother were taking salt to the cow herd. This was in some steep country up Avalanche Gulch.
One of the salt blocks got packed up a steep hill right above the Ford. When set on the ground, it promptly began to roll (a square, 35 pound block of salt rolling down a hill) straight towards the pickup. By the time it reached the pickup, it was rolling fast enough to bounce far enough off the ground to land right in the middle of the door.
Long story short, it now has a '63 F100 door and vin tag. The original vin tag has long since been melted down.
This is a fairly common problem, door swapped out and original tag lost. If you have a title, registration, and the Vin number on those documents match the number stamped in the right front top of the frame rail near the alternator. You can get a replacement Warranty Plate from marti. You can determine all the info found on the original warranty plate by carefully inspecting your truck and collecting the required information. i.e. engine size, wheelbase, body code, gear ratio, color ect. Search around here for a photo of a truck warrenty plate that nearly matches yours and you can see what information you will need to gather. IMHO!

Dana 44 open front
NP435 transmission
Dana 24 transfer case
Cab & Chassis
120" wheelbase

Vin# F26YR831752
It is a solid green color (kind of a turquoise-ish color). Does any body have some paint chips of the colors in '66? The dash is a creamish-white, and the seat (what was left of it) was a tan-ish color with some sort of inserts.

F26 in VIN decodes to an F250 4WD only. No way to know (until 1973) if Cab & Chassis or pickup or factory installed Flat or Stake Bed.
Warranty Plate:
First line VIN: F26YR831742 (F26 = F250 4WD / Y = 352 2V / R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant / 831742 = 1966, assembled March 1966).
Yep. Both of my trucks and one other I know of show 06800 for GVW.
The axle code on all three trucks only show the rear axle code. So, just 25 (or B5 for the locking rear). The K seems to have been left off.
I just went and looked at grandpa's '65 F250 4X4. The axle code is just 25. No K. What's the deal with this? Was ford trying to cut costs by not stamping one letter?
