'77 F150 351m with C-6 and Edelbrock carb... the extension needed because 4bbl intake moves primary bores forward of where they were with stock 2bbl intake.

The year/series/engine size/transmission type is?

Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent info. Parts catalog pic will show the whole shebang, once the info is known.

I think the rod lengths - 2v vs. 4v, are different. Thus the reason Bill (ND) asks for you to post vital info...

No 400 came from FoMoCo w/a 4V carb, 2V only, so the parts catalog pic reference I was going to give you, will not be correct.

Is the rod hollow. Maybe you could cut it, thread each end and use a short piece of threaded bar. Or maybe braze in a piece.

Or use a Lokar cable instead.

Why not just go to the junk yard & grab a kick down rod off a 4V truck?

i have some of the same problem,i put a 390 in my 79 150 supercab, and because i had to change some stuff on the transmission like shifter linkage because of the n.s.s. is on the trans ,i,m not sure if i should use the kickdown that was on the 76 set up or use the kickdown from the 79 because i put a 79 style shifter in the 76 c-6,
i guess the real question is when does the kickdown engage?
the carb is the replacement holley 4160 which the old was ware out
and yes i spell and type like a 3 yearold sorry

Bill, I was going to mention Lokar but last time Lokar was mentioned for a throttle linkage, everyone complained about the cost. I use Lokar on both throttle and kickdown. I spray cable lube in them every yr or so. Have had them on one truck for about 15 yrs with no problems. I use a special cable lubing tool - same one used for motorcycle cables.

Find the pin ... about 5/16 diameter with groove fopr retainer if you have the Ford kick down linkage on the carb .... have someone mash gas WO and hold, then push trans kick down rod back, and simply measure length needed to add to it. I made my extension in my pic from some 3/16" X 3/4" steel, I bolted it to the kick down rod using a 5/16" bolt and unt and used a 5/16" hole to slip it over the pin on the linkage and installed a E clip.
