Angry Starting Issues

I have a 2003 F250 Super Duty

So 2 days ago the truck started fine but then yesterday and today the truck wont start. When the key is in and I turn it, everything turns on like normal, and when i turn to start then nothing happens at all. No sound no crank no nothing.

The batteries are fine, the alternator is fine. Im either thinking its the ignition switch or starter. Im leaning toward the ignition switch because before the starter sounded normal and never lagged or grinded or anything and now it doesnt make any sound trying to start.

So let me know what you guys think, should i Just buy a new ignition switch and change that first or do the starter first.

Also how hard is it to change either one? I heard the starter only has like 3 bolts.

Try by-passing the starter solenoid this will tell you which direction you need to proceed.

Not saying that this is the answer but when that exact same thing happened to me, I also went the route of Ignition then starter. After both tested fine I discovered it was a faulty trans neutral safety switch. After replacing it I haven't had an issue since.

Starting

I had trouble with my e99 PSD not cranking until I replaced the batteries. Also install a cigeratte lighter volt digetal voltmeter.

Volts stay around 14 and I don't have any more troubles.

I had replaced the relay and the starter all to no good.

I have a 2003 F250 Diesel and have been struggling with this starter issue. I've replaced the ignition switch and no help. I have to turn the ignition on and hold it then ever so slightly pull the gear shifter in towards the steering wheel and it sometimes will start. I have a ritual I go thru when this happens like moving the tilt steering up and down 3 times and holding the brake in and moving the shifter thru the gears 3 times and then maybe it will start. This is becoming very frustrating. So could it be the neutral safety switch ? if it is how do find it?? HELP !!

I found this link that might help - it is for a gasser. Do they share the same transmission in 03?

Seabass an 03 Super Duty Diesel will have the 4R100. it's very easy to replace (less then 5 min) and costs under $50 for the part. Simply set the parking brake (wheel chocks wouldn't be a bad idea either) put the truck in neutral and crawl under the drivers side of the truck.

Unplug the wire harness going to the old switch
Remove the two screws holding the switch.

it is located on the drivers side of the trans.

With the old one removed you can insert the new one on the keyed shaft. loosely instal the 2 screws just tight enough so you can still move the switch.
Now line up the two marks for neutral and tighten the 2 screws.
plug the wire harness into your new switch.

I hope this helps you out. it drove me nuts for 2 months.

Did anybody check the starter relay? On my '00 it's right behind the right hand battery mounted on the inner fender.
