i thank you should stick with the flathead. i love the way it sounds. the drive trains on these old trucks want keep the tires on the ground. good luck with your truck
Paul,
At the risk of offending so of the senior users I'd do a flat head. Like Tim said something about the way they sound. I have a 54 with a Y-block and smitty glass pack and I'm always getting complements on It's sound. I prefer to keep the same style engine that was original ;flathead, Y-block ect. However any truck that has had the time put into it to make it look like it belongs there is great. PS mine is just for local intown runs and showing off the history of the truck. No offense ment to anybody with different opinions we all share a common love our Ford trucks. Kurt Y-blocks rule!
Kurt, don't go getting overly polite with these guys. The only thing that keeps them in line is offending 'em now and then.
Also, never 'pologize for the flathead 8. It wasn't until after Henry died that Ford moved to follow the competition with OHV engines. OHV - it's a fad that will never catch on - just you wait and see.
If Henry were still alive and keeping the shop in line, we'd still have new flatheads - I think!
