02 Sport Trac engine help
Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm clueless!
The 4.0 SOHC V6 in my 02 Sport Trac blew up after my oil pump quit on me. I'm looking on classifieds to find a replacement motor. I'm curious what year Ranger and Explorer motors will fit perfectly in my truck. I obviously don't want to buy a motor to have it not fit. Of course, everyone who is selling tells you it fits whether its true or not. So if anyone can tell me which motors will fit (I just go by it looking the same - HAHA) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!
PS, I also heard a lot of the motor's intakes may not look the same, but I can't take mine off and bolt it on, is this true as well? Thanks!!

Welcome to FTE.
AFAIK, the long blocks are all similar or the same. 4x4 models have a balance shaft, but that does not effect much outside the engine. As long as your intake and controls are bolted and wired up, almost any one should work. Possibly even Mustang engines.
FWIW go through the tensioners no matter what you do before installation.
Important info here. Things like valve covers need to be swapped over for example.
