Does anybody know if AE will retrieve the factory code for the keyless entry. I have my code written down so I do not have a problem but was just wondering if AE would retrieve that data.
It depends on the year of the vehicle. Some vehicles have a Vehicle Security Module and the later years have a GEM, my 2000 I found the code in the VSM, you have to connect directly to the individual modules with the AE, once connected you will see the options on the drop down screen.
If the GEM is not programmed or damaged it will not work. My Brother in Law has a 2002 X that has a salvage/restored title, the door keypad does not work to unlock the vehicle, but it will lock it. When I connected to the GEM it said code not programmed, but gave me an option to enable it, but not to program the code. So it never worked. They think the GEM on that truck is damaged but they are not sure. It does all kinds of weird things with the inside lights sometimes, there are times they come out and the batteries are dead. Glad it's not mine.
Did you guys ever figure out how to get the key pad code with AE?
I plugged mine in today running the newest version of AE but did not see that option. Where would I look?
I have v13. Not having the keyless entry code on my 01 X was one of the reasons I got the program. I connected to the GEM, click on special function, press the drop down menu, select factory keyless entry code, and click initiate.
