I have been on here for a long time, and have recently picked up a 2007 250 V10 4X4, 4.10s, and 35s. love the truck. Not my only V10, also have an 07 winnebago 35' with this motor. How can i tell if the PO has put a tune on this truck?? i know it was used for a 5ver, and has some mods.... airbags, CAI, tbody spacer...... but the power band seems off. Light to moderate throttle, poor performance and mileage (currently 8.2). WOT great performance and mileage improves?!?!?!?!?! 3rd & 4th gear at moderate throttle literally will not accelerate. Just lays down unless you accelerate harder. I am wondering if he has this tuned for the 5ver, and i need something different???? But how can i tell if it is tuned???
The could air intake and throttle body spacer can go in the trash. Sounds like its not running right, I'm averaging 9.42, on roughly a 33" tire. When was the last tune up? MAF cleaning? Doesn't sound like a tune to me
I'll toss out the 35s cant be helping, even with 4:10s.
I dont have an answer for the tune question, but would be curious to know if theres any problem stacking a 5 star tune on a rig that already has a tune, as in, does it completely rewrite the pcm, or add to existing parameters?
That's something to ask Mike @ 5-star, I would assume that his tuner would just take the existing tune, call it the "stock" tune, and then put his new one in place of it. But you'd have to ask him.
To the original poster, yes, sounds like you might have other issues, and has nothing to do with a tune. Cleaning the MAF and the throttle body should be the first things on your to-do list. That, and checking for vacuum leaks.

I agree....start off my removing the throttle body spacer and after market air intake. Then disconnect the battery to reset the PCM.
Maf and Tbody cleaned yesterday, battery disconnected during cleanings. havent driven enough to know where we are at and will let you know. May remove t-body spacer next, but dont have OEM airbox as i did not install the CAI. Seems to have improved the flat spot, but not setting any mileage records as of yet. I will advise later in the week after i have driven her some. Drove the motorhome yesterday and would swear that it has more power than the 250. Thanks for the help and Merry Christmas!!!!! i will advise on milage friday. Roger
