Ok, on my '06 F-250, when I test drove it before buying it I could never get my ECT over 180. In the two months I've had it, I only got it to go over 180 once, and that was towing a 7000# trailer up a 7% grade about 7 miles. At that time it got up to around 203 when the fan kicked on (seemed really low temp for fan based on other reports).
I assumed it was my t-stat, so replaced it today while doing a coolant change/flush. But it's still not getting much over mid-170s with highway driving, even going WOT in passing.
Any other things that could be keeping that temp down? Ambient air temp is about 10 right now, FWIW...
Fwiw, I plugged up AE today instead of my SGII and got readings around 185 after 20 minutes of high idle. Interesting that SGII and AE would report differently, since they are both sending what the PCM sees.
Did you program the ECT or use the pre-programed one ?
If you did the programing than it could be a goof in the coding.
My SGII is not right when it reports battery voltage/ It's about 0.5 V off
After letting your truck sit for 12-24 hours....
compare your ECT, EOT, and TFT readings in the SG2...
They should all be within a degree or two of each other, mine are
pretty close most of the time.
Ambient temp changes do effect each fluid slightly different, so if you
wait until it warms up (10 AM) they might be slightly more separated.
Yeah, I checked them about two weeks ago. After 36 hours all were within 1 degree... Temps now are dropping well below 0 at night, so it stays plugged in.
