Those converters look really nice. That's what my mechanic told me too, that the torque garbage will be spread thru the whole transmission and it will have to be cleaned thoroughly. I did mention to the mechanic about the upgraded torque and he highly recommended it. The tranny shop has one that they use, so I'll just go with that. Those pictures are something. I sure hope the tranny shop cleans it good!
Update: The tranny shop finished my rebuild. They said the torque converter pretty much blew up. They install heavy duty torques in all their rebuilds, 12 month 12000 mile warranty. Cost for the rebuild $1898.80. I pick it up monday.
isn't that something.just a little over 100k miles it says in your signature too.glad i just bit the bullet and swapped mine out.i had planned to get a dump trailer (which i did a little while ago) so i knew i better replace the oem converter first.
well,a couple grand and a fresh trans, you should be good to go for the rest of the trucks life really.i guess they're all rebuilt to a min of '94 (or '95,i can't remember all this stuff lol) specs these days.so that's a plus.

I hope your right, friend. I would like for this to be my last truck!
what do you have for a trans cooler? if you have an aux cooler i would replace it since there will be junk from the converter in there as well.
Standard operating procedure for replacing a transmission does include flushing out the transmission lines and cooler. So that shouldn't be a concern unless that was not done. Or, is it possible for stuff to be stuck in there after flushing the cooler and lines?
you can't truly flush a trans cooler. besides for the little price(compared to a new trans) it is just cheap insurance to buy a new cooler. you will never get all the stuff out of the aux cooler just b/c of the design. the cooler in the rad will be just fine if you flush it.

Is that because of all the turns in the lines and perhaps some low spots? I've never heard this before, but it does make sense, assuming you and I are now on the same page.

i don't know for sure but i would have to agree with you on all the twists and turns in an aux cooler.
