After reading the thread on the uplifter switches, it got me to thinking if its with possible to do something similar with the radio. I have 2011 lariat ultimate package, including sirius radio, and back up camera in the rear view mirror. Does anybody know if the wiring harness is there to take out the basic cd/mp3 player radio and put in the nav/radio combo? I dont wont to do an after market. Haven't seen any that look good once installed.

Do you mean put in the factory Nav? If so it depends on your trim package. The harnesses might be there. I don't think the GPS antenna will be there and you'd have to wire in the reverse camera. I had the basic cd/sirius and went Pioneer aftermarket. I think it looks stock.
The factory nav is what i meant. I have the lariat ultimate package. All the options except for the nav and sunroof. If the harness is there from the factory woldn't the camera wire already be there? Or at least unplug it from the rear view mirror and plug it into the factory nav unit? Does the sirius radio antenna double as the nav antenna? The Pioneer does look good. Must have seen pics of poor installation
I've got the same KR albeit with the moonroof. For the camera you'd have to grab the + and - camera signal wires (perhaps from the passenger side "a" pillar, you'd have to find the color code) and wire them into the Factory radio harness. I don't think mine had those leads in the harness. The sirius does double as a GPS antenna but I believe the signal is split at the harness so that it enters the radio on two different pins.
I did some research on this and from what I can tell, the IP (instrument panel) harnesses are very different between the nav and non-nav options. As well, with the nav option, you will be missing the nav antenna that makes it all work. It would be a very difficult 'factory' type upgrade as you would probably need an entire IP from a nav optioned vehicle and also install the antenna in the roof. I say entire IP because trying to change the IP harness (14401) alone would be a horrible experience. Its the second part to go on the beam and everything else back there sort of locks it in.
Maybe a tablet mounted in the cup holder area might serve the same purpose. I have my phone mounted there and use that for directions when needed.
Thanks for the insight carbon coupe. I was hoping for a simple 'plug n play', but doesn't look like that will happen with trying to use the factory nav. looks like I'll buy a good Garmin or something of that nature.
I just had a front camera installled on my front bumper today. Our head unit is good but it limits only one video feed on the nav screen. I had a small 3" screen installed near ignition and that useless cubby hole. Got it hooked to up fitter 2. Anytime I need to slowly pull into a Walmart parking lot I can turn on my camera and make a safe snug fit.
i just upgraded after reading how others here did it. i wanted to retain everything my lariat came with but wanted the sound from my old pioneer navi. so i went about doing what some of the other here did, bought the pac ms-frd to retain sync, and went with axxess for the steering wheel controls. wired up and plugged in the pac and axxess unit per the instructions to my old pioneer navi 700bt. the pioneer has a navigation unit unit in it, i just had the basic cd player from the factory. i was dumbfounded when it all worked perfectly, snyc, bluetooth, subwoofer,. when navi is active he comes over the trucks speakers and mutes the music. the steering controls work on the pioneer perfectly. i didnt need to use the control that the pac comes with to control the sync features so i left it off, but now i have a couple of usb ports, sd card port, cd, and navivgation. backup camera still in mirror plus added a camera plugged into navi for watching hitching the fiver . factory mic works with sync, i dont need voice for navi but have the mic i can add later somewhere in addition. both sync and navi hookup to bluetooth cell phone so i have to turn off navi bluetooth for calls out or incomming as i like using sync, but the navi will dial and connect if i use the control panel to dial from the phone book. payed 250 bucks for the pioneer in 08 and upgraded it to 3.0 firmware and use diaftias mod off the avic 400 website. the pioneer tuners always sound good non amplified. did lose sirius tuner though because i didnt buy the box . 3 plugs go into the stock radio, power speaker plug, sync plug, and steering wheel controls. factory nav sounds like a good deal if u can figure out a way to confirm plug and play. here is a nice wiring diagram for the 2011 2012 superduties. compare the factory basic with the nav diagrams for an idea of what is the same. sorry no pics but it did happen...trust me. and it does look better than stock. mike
I put in the JVC nav unit in my 010 truck. Worked great and looked as good if not better than the factory one. Sounded great too with new speakers and sub. You have a lot more sound control with an aftermarket system.
