Be careful with the low fuel light... Mine came on last night & made it about 6 miles & ran out.... First time I've ever ran out of fuel & it sucks ***.

I get at least 700 miles on a tank, daily driver mostly around town, with maybe one long hiway drive. I have gone 900+ after filling in FL driving to NC for the weekend and then filling up in SC on the way back. Took 45.6 gallons, just had low fuel light when i stopped. I drive just a bit over the speed limit and use cruise when i can. Love my PSD powered Ex.

Filled up today, drove 725 miles and just a bit over 44 gallons, the fuel light was on but still showed 45 miles to go on the overhead.

44 gallons,,, GREAT when your on the road, SUCKS when your fillin it up!!!
We avg. just about 19+ when on the last road trip in March, 4900 miles, of course, the tranny took a dump a week after getting back, so I think it should be better now with a JOHN WOOD's trans in it. (Thanks again STEWART_H!) But we did notice a drop when everywhere went to ULSD,,, used to be 21+ on road trips if I stayed below 70. After one long lonely drive at 70, when I filled up, it said "999 miles to empty" honest injun, no-$H**er! of course it didn't get that, but my wife had just "reset" it on a flat slightly downhill area, so it was reading something crazy like 26mpg, and I was eggshelling the foot feet to keep it high!

I use 30w lawn mower oil to put all the cetane and other good stuff back in the fuel. Works great for me and my truck. She runs smoother with it in there. I like to think of it as un-ULSDing my fuel.

Does lawn mower oil add cetane? I add 2 stroke for lube.

Getting ready to take mine from NC to Tampa Fl next month for a cruise. I plan on taking the ex for room not mileage. 650 miles one way. I have been 500 on a half a tank before refueling. It drops like crazy after a half. Mine once cut off at a 1/4 tank. I need to do the tank mods myself

Any oil you add is going to put cetane back in the fuel. Question is how much you pay for said oil. The lawnmower oil is dirt cheap, so that is what I use. Some of the high end "fuel additives" are nothing more than 30W oil or 2 cycle oil in a different wrapper.

Mine is a 2WD V10, and over the week-end I did my first trip from Charleston to Atlanta and back. I averaged 14.4 mpg, and that was at 75 most of the time. I found a great deal in Aiken, gas was $2.899 per gal at about 5 or 6 places which I saw and couldn't resist such a good deal.. At that time I pumped 30.3 gal after having traveled 437 miles, and I wasn't even to the 1/4 tank mark... All I would say is don't push it to the limits, leave a good reserve.. I never liked the idea of any crudley stuff in the tank which settles to the bottom, clogging up the sock over the fuel filter, or fouling up the fuel filter!

That's some good feedback, thanks guys Yeah, once I've got some miles on it, I wont really ever let it get too low............kinda just itching to get to drive it on a good trip now

On the oil to add to the diesel - what sort of ratio are you guys using? I've not heard of adding anything on a diesel - but we have noticed a drop in mpg on all our tractor trucks since we had no choice but to use the low sulphur stuff, and ours now has a mix of that bio stuff too already at the pumps
