I can buy a FE C6, automatic ps column, and all the linkage including the kickdown linkage for $400 out of a running 75 F150.
Im tempted, but I have the 3 spd ps column that I bought to install in my 66 F100 longbed.
Its in a longbed. Any idea what the deal is with the front driveshafts between 66 and 75 longbeds?
I "think" on the 65-72 longbed trucks the rear driveshaft is the same length, regardless of what engine/tranny is installed. So the front driveshaft is a different length depending on what engine/tranny was installed.
What about the 73-79 trucks?
If I buy the C6 and grab the front driveshaft, will it be the proper length for my 66? Or are the 73+ trucks completely different animals because of the longer wheelbase?
I am doing a 3 spd manual to C6 auto in my 66 shortbed. I ended up buying a yoke to fit the C6 and had the existing (3 spd manual) driveshaft cut and rebalanced at a driveshaft shop. Was about $100 - $150 with new u-joints

Reason: egg yolks dont below on trucks
You have options, but finding an exact fit may not be one of them. When I swapped a C6 in from 3 on the tree, I went to a one piece ds, cut to fit at a local driveline shop. No issues after 12 years. Not expensive either.
