Look under catalogs, zero start application guide for a 7.3 Ford diesel (same as International T444E) to find their heater number 3500043 (120V 1000W), 3500043 (120V 1500W) for the heater and 3600008 for the stock cord. Most any truck shop should be able to order one for you.
They also have different mounting types for the cord end and heavier duty cords that will work. Same catalog, farther down.
Well, I started my truck up this morning for the first time since I've fixed my cord plug, and I couldn't believe it. Absolutely no smoke! I guess my heater wasn't working at all since I've had the truck, due to the cord being messed up. It didn't seem to be helping much before, but this morning was amazing. What a difference. Glad I checked it out! Thanks to everyone for the help. Lots of good information.
nice when a quick fix makes such a difference... i'm just curious - how long do you plug yours in for overnight. Since i'm cheap, i run mine on a timer and have it come on about 4 hours before i need it.
3-4 hours is plenty; it doesn't get any hotter after that. And depending, of course, on your per-kWh rate, it's just plain smart (as well as cheap) to use a timer. We're at about 16 cents / kWh, so running it, say, 10 hours overnight instead of 3 would cost an extra dollar, every time you plug it in. Adds up quick.
exactly my thinking. i'm at about 20c/kWh, though, so even worse for me.
i'm curious to try to trick of leaving the defroster selected in snow/ice storms though. someone on here mentioned that using the block heater overnight with the defroster selected will keep the windshield clear. not sure i believe it'll work that well, but for less than $2, i'm willing to try it.

Not exactly clear, but keeps the windows warm enough that frost, snow and ice are easier and faster to remove.
I plug mine in before I go to bed, but have been wanting to get a timer to put it on. I was planning on just setting it for 4 hours before start-up. This should be plenty, as others have responded. I do keep my defroster on, and it does make a difference. Like Darrell said - it doesn't keep it clear, but warm enough that it clears off pretty quickly. We had some sleet last night that iced up, and it didn't keep that clear, but if we have a light dusting of snow, it will usually keep it clear on the bottom near the wipers and up a little.
