Hello fellow enthusiasts! My dad has a 1966 F250 4x4, 4-speed, 352 sitting in his garage that he started to sand down to repaint about 12 years ago. For various reasons, it has been sitting there for the last several years, and it is still not painted. I have been trying to encourage him to either finish it or give the truck to me. Regardless of my best efforts, my garage still only has by '95 Ford sitting in it. I learned to drive in that truck, and one of the things that I remember is it took 2 hands to turn the key to start the truck. Which was tough because you have to snake your right arm through the huge steering wheel while trying not to break the turn signal switch since the key switch was is on the left side of the steering wheel. The reason it took 2 hands was because the keyswitch ignition housing that attaches to the dash was broken. This allowed the entire ignition body to turn when you tried to turn the key. To try and encourage my dad a little more to finish his project he started, and to get that beast of a truck back out on the road, I have been trying to find the ignition housing to hold the ignition securely to the dash to give to him as a gift. I have had no luck at all. Unfortunately I don't live in the same town, so I don't have any pictures yet. I will try to grab some next time I visit him, but I was hoping that maybe someone would have an idea of what I was talking about and be able to point me in the direction to find one. Any input or advise would be much appreciated. Have a great Christmas!
It would be best to get the ignition switch mounting plate as well as the ignition switch housing. The small tangs on the mounting plate are probably broken or mashed in which is allowing the entire assembly to turn with the key. (item #12 for 11.95 ont the LMC link)
