Hey guys, I have a good lead on 2 '97 F-350 PSD sold as a package deal. The problem is one is a flatbed dually with 140k and a shot body and floors, dents on all panels and rust on floor pans. The other truck is a regular cab pickup with 330k but has a semi decent cab on it with no rust on the floor boards. What I really want is just one good dually flatbed dump to go along with my current pickup. Is it hard to swap the cabs, would I be better off just replacing the floor pans, or should I pass this deal up?
Right, I agree with you Brad. I would be removing the cab from the pickup, making it perfect, and removing any rust on the frame. That's why I lean towards a complete swap.
Cab swap is fairly easy, especially with some kind of over head lift or crane. Basically there are two main mounts below each side of the radiator, as well as below firewall and rear of cab. With a psd it would be a wise time to alter the firewall for a future down pip install to enhance economy as well as performance.
easier to do with the front clip removed separate from the cab. My suggestion would be to leave the core support with radiator all assembled together and then only replace the fenders that way the a/c wont need a recharge.
Thanks for the response Jon, thats good advice for the radiator. I fully intend to "massage" the firewall at this time as I already have a 3" DP to install. Is there anything else that should get done while the cab and bed are off other than a good cleaning and full rust removal/ proofing? This truck is going to be a workhorse but will at most have a intake, exhaust, chip setup.
