Codes p1280, p1249, p0478,p0470, and p1828 i know the p1280 has to do with the icp wich i replaced last week but im having a rough idle and smoke can anybody give me any ideas as to what i need to check
* P1249 Wastagate Fail Steady State Test
* P0478 Exhaust Pressure Control Valve High Input
* P0470 Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction
* P1828 transfer case counterclockwise shift relay circuit failure
The EBP sensor is on the front of the engine in front of the HPOP reservoir down about 6" just above the water pump to fan shaft connection. You're looking for a single sensor that is threaded to a bracket, plug on the top. Below the bracket is a metal tube that runs to the front end of the passenger side exhaust manifold.
As long as you have the sensor off, you can remove the tube as well and run a piece of string trimmer cord through it to clear out any soot and allow it to get a more accurate reading. I've not seen it myself but there are many folks that say it improves mileage.
