Transmission cooler line
While repairing my radiator last weekend I accidentally twisted my transmission cooler line that goes to the drivers side of the radiator. It isnt completely closed, and hasn't twisted all the way around, but the tube diameter is narrowed. So I ask this of my fellow truck owners;
1. Do you think it will be OK to drive it? I don't really see any reason not to drive it around but what do you think?
2. Any recommendations on getting a replacement tube? I know LMC has them, but i only need one and you have to buy a pair? Or does anyone have one they wish to part with?
To repair, go to the parts store and get a length of 5/16" brake line and a 5/16" compression union fitting.
Cut the trans cooler line back far enough to get rid of the bad section. Cut the brake line to the same length. Remove the inverted flare nut from the brake line and replace it with the flare nut that was on you damaged line.
Use the compression union to connect the new line to the old and then connect the other end to the cooler.
Here's a picture of the union fitting.
