transmision cooler line

So my 2000 f350 is leaking transmision fluid from the cooler line. It goes to the rear of the transmission, but where does it go to from there?

The line to the rear of the trans is the return line from the oil to air cooler in front of the radiator.

the store near me does not have the line. So can I just get some metal tubing, flare the the end that goes into trans and then connect it to the rubber hose in the front below the radiator? Do you know what size tubing it would be?

I just got the line done. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, I thought it would be harder to route the line properly.
