Welcome to FTE. I think before i went with any HID stuff i would definitely consult our resident lighting guru GreyStreak. From anyone i know here he seems to be the most knowledgeable person i have seen on this kind of stuff. But thanks for the link overall i think there will be some members who can get use out of it.

I will only caution anyone looking into HID conversions on one CRITICAL point. HID lamps are not "cheap" by any stretch of the imagination. So if the deal seems way too good, it probably is. If you are buying knock-off brands (usually any that you don't recognize) when it comes to high-intensity discharge lamps, they will "yellow" or "green" prematurely or fail spectacularly in short order. I have not researched the products in the link above so I can make no comment as to the quality. I will say that if you are looking at a conversion with Philips, Sylvania, Osram, GE (General Electric), or even certain Ushio lamps, you are headed in the right direction. This is not a plug for these brands it is merely a fact that "no-name" lamps do not undergo the same quality control measures that the manufacturers above put their products through before distributing them.

I would "err" on the side of caution when converting to HID lighting. At least watch what kit you buy. The only reason I'm saying anything is my cousin's husband installed a kit he got off Ebay. He said it was great-installed easily and had a nice bright light. Last month I saw a report of a car fire on the news. I found out that his Dodge burnt to the ground and did some house damage also. R.I.P. Hemi!! I don't know what "kit" it was but installing it was certainly within his scope of mechanical ability. (He's a custom car stereo installer/builder) He said it worked great for about 5 months.

I have to agree with greystreak.....be careful!

I put an email message into the folks in the link. We'll see what their responses to my questions are. No way to know unless you ask, right?
