QUESTION?!!!! answer asap please!
what motor did 1980's ford diesels have?!?! F250? wondering b 4 I buy if he said it has a 6.0 im like 99% they didnt makes the 6.0 then, only thought they had the 6.9 and 7.3 idi

If the PO doesn't know whats under the hood, he probably doesn't know what transmission is in it nor if it's a 2wd or 4wd

I dont really care anyway im getting it for 250$ and it runs and drives wife/familys selling all his vehicles I havent even seen it, all they said was that it has a np435 4 speed, 4x4 (I know its got dana 44 ttb but im not sure about the rear) and that its got a 6.0l

Ask them if there was ever anything done to the engine, as in a swap out.
If they say no, it's a 6.9 as said earlier.

up till 87 was 6.9, 88 to 94 was 7.3 IDI, 94 to 03 was 7.3 powerstroke, 03 to 06 or 07 was 6.0, 07 or 08 to 2011 was 6.4, and 2011 on is 6.7

83-86 should either have a T-19 four speed manual or a C6 three speed automatic, regardless of two or four wheel drive.

Front axle (if 4wd) could be a D44HD or D50 if its an F250, or a D60 if its an F350.

Rear axle would be either a Sterling 10.25" or Dana 60

Transfer case would either be a Borg-Warner 1345 or a 1356. The 1356 has a fixed rear yoke and the 1345 has a slip yoke.

My 1356 transfer case is a slip yoke, I think they could be had either way?
