I need to replace ether my Bronco II or the tranny in it there seems to be plenty of Explorers around here but no Bronco II <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
how would the Explorer compare to my Bronco???<o></o>
for off road and towing etc.
and or is there a good sub for the 89 bronco II auto transmition?

the explorers have 4.0Ls the newer bronco 2s have 2.9L EFI engines and the 84-85 Bronco 2s had 2.8Ls Carb engines. So I doubt they will work.

I'd say the Explorer would out pull a Bronco II. Basically they seemed to continue to follow the Ranger platform when they went to the first Explorers. The early Explorers came stock with the bullet proof OHV 4.0L. Later on they added the 4.6L v-8 option.

I got a 2000 ovh and tow a 3k lb boat around all summer with no problem except pulling boat of the lake, but the ramp is real steep and would hate to measure it. It's proble the max grade possible to use. Shallow ramps are no problem.
