where shall I start. several issues
pretty straight forward so I was plesantly surprised. also I am not going to hone out the cyclinder as its pretty darn smooth. guessing its been unplugged for a loong time. and second I dont have a honer tool.
but now that i have it apart. there is that sensor that is on the front end that would face fwd of the motor that has the plug on it.
well it has two small O-rings on it that I would like to replace. but its not in the pedestal rebuild kit. thought that it should be. I messaged Clay so I am sure to hear from him soon.
but thought It would ask if I should even bother. can I get them from the dealer??? the problem with that is I presume I would have to buy some kit that cost way to much.
also is it advisable to just replace it anyway?
just want to get this project done and my rig running again.
What you describe as a sensor is actually an electronic valve that directs the oil flow in the turbo to apply pressure to the acuator (plunger) so that the rod will extend and close the EBPV.

I dont think there part of hte kit. I even looked at the picture on Guzzles site to compare. look the same.
I will wait. just need to get this back together if you know what I mean.
order and wait for a little part dam the luck. lol
edit. I swear that guy dont sleep. I have gotten replies at 130am. anyway Cheers to Clay.
he stated that they rarley leak and might be found in the turbo rebuilt kit, which was tomorrows project. hmm. so we shall see what I find.
oh well.
thanks PaysonPSD ( again)
Update,
finally got the parts and my pedestal is done and just over half way through the turbo I realized I bought the wrong size socket. I guess I didn't read enough on which 5/16's socket to get. oh well
yes its a 12pt but 3/8's drive. there are those two bolts that you cant get to cause of the housing. other than that its been pretty easy job. just will have to get those last two bolts out so I can clean the inside up and put it all back together. then hopefully I didn't forget anything when I get to the point of turning the key.
hopefully I get to scream like if Frankenstien movie "ITS a alive!" and look all crazy. lol
so I am taking on the turbo last night. went and bought a 5/16th 12pt socket.
well its all find and dandy, but I got a 3/8 drive. fine till i got the last two bolts that that socket wont fit. "union break I guess"
so I call it a night and look at two stores for a 1/4 drive 5/16th and CANT find one. that is a 12pt.
so how the heck do you guys get those last two bolts on the middle part of the turbo so I can take 5 min to put that part back together. frustrated to say the least.
plus its my girls b-day 12/12/12 (kind of cool) so I am busy tonight
any help on one simple little socket.
I had my acumilated socket set stolen and I am slowly building.
the Turbo bolts need a 12 pt is why.
I have only had limited places to check as I ride the bus to and from work. (cheap) so in the evening I get to borrow the yukon. Napa didn't even have them in stock, so I could have ordered it, but am trying a wrench that is 8mm
looks like I can use that.
just want to get this thing back together
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
hard to get any leverage with a tiny 8mm wrench.
so PBlastered it and heading out in the snow to clean the other pieces.
over all the job isnt' bad, but dam, one bolt had to be a biatch.
and whole socket part was a pain too. nothing like having to build up a socket set back up.
but turbo is put back together.
so after work today I started to put in back in. pedestal went well. but the turbo is testing my patients.
exhaust, up pipes part are ok, but the that hunk of metal that feeds the plenums is not alighted very well. so I have now looseened the plenum boots to maybe help with getting it straight.
well I had to walk away and go have a few beers.
its 20 deg and dropping so I have called it an night.
will try again tomorrow after work. but does anybody have any ideas or tricks of the trade to help?
no mind you I have a van so this job is more of all forearms reaching in. it sucks.
by do I want to start her up tomorrow
I was excited to get a van cause I can access the turbo and up pipes very easy. but once you do your turbo, pedestal and down pipes. your dont really need to bother them for a while.
BUT everything else is harder I have learned.
I had a truck and was afraid to jump into turbo and up pipes cause of location and lack of exsperience then, but not afraid now. plus I had spent plenty of time laying on the motor adding a VO system.
the fuel bowl is a pain cause of different locations of a few things and the motor is tucked in the hood more.
coming from the back for the plenums is a pain cause like you say for the trucks and doing the turbo. all forearms.
but if you can imagine the position I might be in. I am on my knees between my seats fore head on the dash reaching to mess with the plenums juntion so I can get the turbo and that ligned up. can't remember the name of that metal piece. (spider maybe?) back hurts over time.
I replaced the boots with inserts and actually needed to have all that out so I Could disconect the back of the fuel bowl connections before I took it out.
its been a long road of a few weeks. so I am hoping I Can get it back together fully and it starts like its supposted to.
