So, when I don't have little things to do on my truck at lunchtime at work, I waste my time in other creative ways, apparently...
yesterday and today I took a few pictures of the truck from different angles, imported the pictures into CAD (we use SolidWorks) and started mocking up ideas for the brush guard I want to build - digitally. it looks better in CAD than I expected, but gets a little trippy when you're not looking head on or from the side (see the last picture).
check out the screenshots below and let me know what you think. ...nothing fancy, but if I can squeak the uprights in on the laser on a slow day, I should be able to handle the rest of the fab and welding myself. and I definitely can't afford the $500 worth of lightining I mocked up, but was just curious how they would fit.
I also started messing around with tube bending designs - one tube and some sketches - to protect the headlights from deer and such - but I figure these'll be bolt on anyway, so i'll wait to see how the brushguard goes before putting too much [digital] effort into them.
